Is it really necessary for a fifty-year-old woman to lay her entire soul bare before the world in a memoir, along with the erotic, narcotic adventures of her youth — making herself vulnerable to the spite of the spiteful?
Wouldn’t it be safer instead to quietly hide away in one’s cave? So as not to get in anyone’s way?
And yet, my whole life seems to have been an ode to courage. That is the message I carry. The courage to live by following the bliss of your own heart. Back then, my heart called me to travel the world and to discover love; today, with the same fervor, it calls me to write.
The courage to dance your own dance. Without worrying what someone somewhere might think of it.
How much more happiness there would be in people’s lives if they weren’t held back from living their dreams by the fear of others’ opinions and judgment!
Following the bliss of your own heart is the only reliable guide in life.
In your rare, prescious, fleeting life!
Following that guidance is the only work that truly nourishes.
The only thing that truly matters.
That, and kindness. Kindness toward yourself and toward other beings.
